| I found many wedding planning books helpful while
planning our wedding. Below are some of my recommendations. And now,
through an association with Amazon.com, any of these can be purchased
directly from our site!

|
| Bridal
Bargains
by Denise & Alan Fields |
| This book gives basic, very practical and cost-cutting advice -- we
used it for all the nuts-and-bolts planning, and found it to be an
absolutely wonderful resource.
|
| I've also heard wonderful things about the Fields' two other
wedding books:
Bridal Gown Guide Far & Away Weddings |
| Weddings
for Grownups
by Carroll Stoner |
| This book offers practical advice, but one of the things I most
enjoyed about it were the sidebars, with advice and suggestions from
real brides. I especially liked the emphasis on doing things
differently. Stoner's assertion is that every wedding is unique -- and
should be -- and she gives couples permission to do things differently
(not that we should need permission, but with something so traditional
as a wedding, I think it helps).

| How
to Have the Wedding You Want (Not the One Everyone Else Wants You to
Have)
by Danielle Claro |
| This is wonderful as a psychological antidote to the stress of
being a bride-to-be. I read it once while in the midst of planning, then
re-read the last couple of chapters (about how to survive the wedding
day and beyond) just before the wedding. I loved Claro's humor and sense
of perspective when reading it (perspective is one thing that most
brides-to-be seem to be a little short on! :)).

| Miss
Manners on {Painfully Proper} Weddings
by Judith Martin |
| I actually did use this as a reference for my invitations, although
it's not actually a wedding planning book. It is very funny and
enjoyable, with lots of real (and often painfully improper -- and
hilarious -- letters to Miss Manners). A great stress reliever.

| Weddings
by Martha Stewart |
| This is classic Martha Stewart. It's a beautiful, huge book filled
with color pictures and all those touches you've come to expect from
Martha. Jim and I found our wedding cake here, complete with photo and
recipe -- so it played a rather large part in our wedding planning.

Weddings
from the Heart
|
| This is one of the most popular books touted on the wedding
newsgroups. It's a good resource for writing your own ceremony,
featuring seven complete ceremonies as well as all kinds of information
on each part of the ceremony. We used it to understand the components of
a traditional ceremony, and found some of the exercises helpful.
Ultimately we only used two tiny passages from the book in our actual
ceremony, but found it to be a good resource for doing our own writing.
