Our Experience
Jim rented a tux with a white, band collar shirt, a black band collar jacket, a black vest with a sort of embossed paisley pattern, and a black stud (instead of a bow tie). He was very happy with his choice, and I think it suited him well -- and made him stand out from the other men, who wore regular tuxes.

There wasn't any attendant attire, although we did ask our dads and my brother to wear tuxes, and we specified that they should be the standard black with a black bow tie and cummerbund.

As for the rest of my ensemble, I ordered a veil that was attached to a barrette (with little satin rosettes on it) with velcro, so that I could take the veil off and still have my hair pulled back with the barrette. For shoes, I wore plain white Keds with socks that had lace trim -- I was determined to be comfortable on my wedding day -- and I was very comfy! :)
