Attire

Bride | Groom | Bridesmaids | Parents

When it came time to decide the theme and attire that would best represent Dan's and my interests, I decided it had to be something old-fashioned, romantic, simple, and fun-loving. A Late Victorian theme best suited us. The time period I chose has also been called "The Gilded Age" or "The Gibson Girl Look."

Bride's Attire

A 1930s ivory slipper satin gown with chantilly lace, recreated to the appearance of an 1898 gown, with a dropped waist with a point, very large leg of mutton long sleeves with wrist poins, a high neck and old-fashioned cameo, and a double coachman bustle. The hat is derby style with ivory satin roses, large puff valance, mid-back tulle veil and two ostrich feather plumes, cream Russian net with cream-colored marabu, small cream-colored roses, and sits high atop the head. The shoes are ivory boots that are slightly above the calf with lace-up buttons. An old-fashioned four-boned hoop with ivory satin pantaloons underneath. Three ivory fabric rosettes on the bustle and one large one in the back of the derby hat. Multitudes of satin-covered buttons in back from top of neck to where bustle joins.
